OUR LIVESTOCKOUR SHEEP
Blystone Farm is proud to raise a commercial herd of Royal White sheep. For several generations, sheep have grazed the pastures of this historic farm. Joe & Jane are proud to carry on this tradition with our herd of Royal Whites. The Royal White breed was developed from White Dorpers and St. Croix sheep. This is a hair sheep breed that does not require shearing. Royal Whites are quick growing lambs, and the ewes exhibit excellent maternal qualities. Blystone Farm is pleased to offer breeding stock for sale from our herd. Sheep from the Blystone Farm herd have found great success as foundation ewes at other farms! Please email or call Joe at 614-833-1211 for more information.
OUR DOGS
Blystone Farm is the home of Okie and Grace, who are livestock guardian dogs. Okie and Grace are both Great Pyrenees, which are working dogs. The Pyrenees breed was developed in the mountainous region between Spain and France. Herders there needed dogs that were intelligent and rugged to guard their animals from bears and wolves. The Pyrenees breed has become very popular with American shepherds and goatherds due to the fact that they are defensive, but not aggressive. The charming personalities of these dogs are matched by the handsomeness of their majestic white coats. Visitors to Blystone Farm can meet Okie and Grace, who have recently become parents! Grace has eight beautiful pups! These puppies will soon be ready to go work at new homes. The pups have been raised in the barn since birth to acclimate them to livestock. These Pyrenees pups come from experienced, working bloodlines and will do best with individuals who are familiar with livestock guardian animals. Please email or call Joe at 614-833-1211 for more information about applying to purchase a pup.
